Reflection: Rules and Consequences First Day of Class - Section 3: Make Ms. Sparks Happy

When the students were sharing their responses from the bell work I realized that the students were not interpreting the statement to state class rules.  I stopped the discussion and restated what I was looking for.

I explained that this question was given to develop class rules.  I gave them an example that I knew they would not write.  The rule I gave them was "Leave the windows alone." I then explained that this made the air conditioner unit in the room to not work correctly and the room would get humid.

Once I gave the students an example they got the idea.  The students wrote the rules on a poster.

I combined the rules and we discussed the rules briefly the next day and a final set of class rules were established.
