Reflection: Writing Across the Disciplines Performance Task (2 days) - Section 1: DO NOW (day 1 and 2)


I wrote on the board the elements of a Cinquain.  We did have to have some conversation about action verbs so I explained that these are verbs that end in "ing".  I showed students my example of a Cinquain and then I let them loose to do one on their own.  This was a little more challenging for them then the Metaphorical Duo.  They really had to make connections and have a good understanding of ratios.  

Some students were able to finish pretty quickly, so for fun, I had them write a cinquain about me, the principal, or another teacher.  This was very entertaining!

Objective: SWBAT apply their understanding of ratios and rates.

Big Idea: This lesson is a performance task based on their learning of ratios. Students will be using their knowledge of ratios and unit rates to create their own pizza.
