Reflection: Joy A Revolution in Poetry: Phillis Wheatley's Verse - Section 1: Intro & Welcome: It's The "Birthday" of the Gateway Arch!

Today's introduction helped motivate kids, and myself, after a long weekend. The Mindbender could be decoded with given information, and did not require prior knowledge, resulting in success for most of the students, and building confidence for more difficult questions. Students in each class had something to share about collective nouns, and of course, someone made a joke when I pointed out that a group of baboons is a "congress." There were a few "ah-ha!" moments of realization when I mentioned that a group of crows is known as a "murder," as students had heard the expression, but did not know the context.
