Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Practice Makes Perfect - Section 2: Concept development

As seen in the video reflection below this was such a fun way to have students show what they know about multiplication.

Not only did this lesson go well in terms of developing students content knowledge bout multiplication, this lesson allowed for teamwork and a lot of math talk which is part of Math Practice Standard 3.  This is the first lesson this year where I had MANY students asking to stay in for recess, or come in early the next morning to re-shoot their commercial.  Students were so engaged and eager to produce a commercial and show what they know.  Occasionally I have students who like to stay in, practice math, and refine their skills, but this lesson created that desire for many students.  Video, instant productions, are what my fourth grade students are growing up with.  This lesson was one way to tap into that.
