Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Evaluating exponential and logarithms - Section 2: Evaluating logarithms

I have recently added an activity from NCTM Illuminations to help students understand the properties of logarithms.  This activity is called Logarithms Demystified. The students make simple slide rules and see how computations can be done with this simple calculator.

After doing this activity we will prove the logarithm properties.

Evaluating exponential and logarithms

Unit 3: Exponential and Logarithmic functions
Lesson 3 of 11

Objective: SWBAT use properties to evaluate and simplify exponential and logarithmic expressions

Big Idea: Understanding that exponential functions and logarithmic functions are inverses makes it possible to evaluate and simplify expressions.
