Reflection: Grappling with Complexity Scale Drawing of the Visible Light Spectrum - Section 3: Wrap Up

Although rates and ratios is an advanced mathematical concepts for fourth graders, it is a useful time to teach students that fractions and ratios are the same thing. Too often students do not learn this until they get to sixth grade math and it comes as a surprise. These kinds of activities add depth to their mathematical understanding as they learn the concepts through using the math rather than learning it theoretically.
