Reflection: Checks for Understanding Dividing Fractions - Section 1: Do Now


I've tried different ways of reviewing homework with my students. I've found that some ways, like reviewing every problem, can eat up valuable class time.  One of the methods that I've found to work the best is thorough, student centered, and makes the most of time.  While, the class is working on the Do Now problems, I give selected students a h.w. problem to present on the board.  I try to set it up where at least 4 students can be at the board at once.  Before discussing the Do Now, students are instructed to compare their work and answers with their peers' work on the board.  As a class, we will discuss any answers that students disagree with or questions students may have.  This method gives students a chance to see someone else's work and strategy.  Also, I'm able to assess students' understanding through the board work and the discussion.  I've included videos on how I use this method (HW video1 and HW video2).
