## Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge Estimating Fractions - Section 1: Do Now

Although rounding is a topic that is covered in earlier grades, I thought it would be helpful for students to have a quick review before beginning the lesson.  I started by asking them for the rules of rounding.  I shared with them a quick riddle that could help.

Five or more let it score

if it's less,

let it rest.

Then I gave students a few math problems:

• Round 357 to the nearest tens place
• Round 4,999 to the nearest hundreds place
• Round 8,241,485 to the nearest hundred thousands place
