Reflection: Trust and Respect First Week of School, Day 3 - Section 1: Lesson


This poem started a lot of conversation with my students.  Although it was only the first week of school, some of my students felt comfortable enough to share their experiences.  The topic of bullying came up and I noticed that it was a sensitive issue for many.  Stories of being bullied, observing a bully, and cyberbullying were shared.  

It was an opportunity to show students that my classroom is a safe environment to learn, ask questions, make mistakes, and have fun.  I felt that students left class that day with a better sense of what my expectations are for their behavior and treatment of one another.
