Reflection: Student Ownership We were only 2400% Wrong - Section 4: Student Activity: Model Building

Because most high school students have made a simplistic model of DNA before, it is important to allow them to build one based on their prior knowledge.  By using information from the film and what they may have previously discussed, students can really become engaged in the lesson.  Watch my video where I further explain the importance of the initial model build.

Unit 12: Molecular Genetics
Lesson 1 of 7

Objective: Students will construct a model of DNA to determine the basic structure of the macromolecule.

Big Idea: It's important to have all the information when making a model. Otherwise, it can be a complete failure.
