Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge Needs of Living Things - Section 1: Engage


This lesson is rather elementary in design and delivery.  Its main purpose is to develop a prior understanding of living things and their needs.  Students in urban settings and especially some students with learning difficulties don't always identify animals with their natural habitat and setting.  This poses challenges during this unit as students are not familiar with animals' basic needs for survival. The lesson can be skipped if students have a solid background in ecosystems.

Objective: SWBAT identify the main needs of living things and explain possible ways of fulfilling those needs.

Big Idea: Through video and image analysis, students will identify the basic needs of living things.
