## Reflection: Lesson Planning Rectangles with the Same Area and Different Perimeters - Section 2: Intro to New Material

I really love how inter-connected the 6th grade content is under the Common Core standards.  This lesson is a great way to review factors (and I even slip a few problems like this in at the start of the school year, after we've finished Unit 1!).

It is important, I think, to keep this lesson where it is, though.  The next lesson in the sequence is around rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas.  I want students to be able to make sense of problems and decide if they're manipualting perimeter or area.  They need to be able to do both fluently.
