Reflection: Student Portfolios Adaptations Performance Assessment - Section 2: Performance Assessment


I know, I know, I said I don't like rubrics in another lesson. I really don't usually use them with students. However, I learned earlier in the year that for assessments, it provides students with a framework for expectations and this is a unit assessment. This rubric is less about content and more about the writing expectations. I asked students to write a weathering poem earlier in the year. They did better on the re-write when I gave them writing expectations. I don't believe that this is giving too much information away, but assisting student success.

Objective: Students will combine all the learning they have gained, and produce a unique story of adaptation.
