## Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge The Tangent Line Problem - Day 1 of 2 - Section 5: Summarize

Students may have not realized it, but today's lesson is really important to their study of calculus next year (and for the remainder of this unit). This is the reason I want to start with a context - I want students' first experience with derivatives and tangent lines to be something meaningful because these are concepts that they will be working with so frequently over the next year of math. If your students have the background knowledge, I would definitely suggest going with the problem in context to start the unit!
