Unit Assessment: Parametric Equations and Polar Coordinates - Section 1: Unit Assessment

I was pleasantly surprised to see that my students did well on this exam. Although the focus of this unit was polar and parametric equations, there were also a lot of other topics that we had studied previously that were used in this unit. We used a ton of trigonometry and also some logarithmic and exponent properties. It was good to see that students remembered these topics and were able to integrate them in a new setting.

Today is our unit assessment. In this document are some sample questions that you may choose to use with your class.

Some of the questions I definitely do not want students to use a graphing calculator for. For instance, question #3 asks students to graph an equation in polar form. I could not fully assess their understanding of this topic if students just plug it into their calculator and sketch the shape, so you may want to have a **non-calculator portion of the assessment**.
