Reflection: Grappling with Complexity Feedback of Ice and Clouds - Section 4: Connecting the Learning

Middle school students tend to think that if they listen in class, do the homework and read the book they will know everything there is to know. Remember when we knew everything?

When students were in elementary school, clouds were simple to understand. Some are rain clouds, some are not. Clouds make us feel cooler when they create shade from the Sun.

But the impact of clouds is not so simple after all.

I like to present my students with points to ponder. Scientists do not know everything. We learn something new everyday.

We want our students to be life-long learners. Sharing how new findings continuously help us better understand our world certainly provides motivation to learn something new each day.
