Reflection: Student Ownership Is it Matter or Not? - Section 3: Explore

The sorting cards allowed students to observe visual cards and determine if the visual showed a form of matter or not. I created this activity because the students learned that everything is matter and that matter takes up space and it is everywhere. The students needed to realize that ideas and feelings are not matter. This activity permitted students to communicate which cards represented matter while justifying their answer. Students had the chance to work on supporting their answers. This helped to justify their scientific findings.
