Reflection: Modeling DNA - The Molecule of Life - Section 2: Explore

By far the Science and Engineering practice that has forced me to reflect on my teaching practice has been SP2 Developing and Using Models.  This year more than ever I have been purposeful in the incorporation of models in my lessons.  Teaching life science to middle school students is a great challenge due to the fact that the curriculum contains numerous abstract concepts that are difficult to visualize due to their minute scale.  As a result using models allows students to visually see these concepts and make a real strong connection with them.
