Reflection: Relevance Monster Plants - Section 1: Engage: Carnivorous Plants

I had wondered if this particular clip would be interesting enough for my students because David Attenborough isn't very flashy. That didn't matter! They had never seen carnivorous plants before and they were totally absorbed in trying to understand why a plant would eat a bug? The film is dated, but the close ups and his narration is really good. It settled the in and focused their thinking which was needed for the next steps.

We had studied daffodils and were amazed at the internal and external parts that help the plant survive. My students now were almost in disbelief! And to think we have these meat eating plants right in our classroom! It was almost too much to wrap our minds around! These are cool plants!
