Reflection: Student Led Inquiry Would Your Animal Survive Here? Day 1 - Section 4: Explore


Using the collaborative strategy, the students while in their groups, were working together to generate, discuss and increase their science academic vocabulary .  The focus question guided my students into peer discussions where they delved into the "what ifs" and got them thinking about adaptations and why some animals can survive in an environment and others cannot. I believe that having students refer to the focus question throughout the lesson helps them keep the lesson objective  ever present.

Objective: Determine whether an animal can survive in a different environment than its own based on its inherited traits.

Big Idea: In any particular environment, some kinds of animals survive well, some survive less well, and some cannot survive at all
