Reflection: Staircase of Complexity Solar System Sentence Strip - Section 3: Student Activity

I want my students to have an accurate model of the Solar System before I start my instruction of the eight planets. Many students do not have an internal understanding of the great distances in the Solar System. Many posters and models incorrectly depict size and distance in order to fit an image on a screen or a sheet of paper. This sort of editing often causes science misconceptions that are reinforced by a lack of understanding. This assignment is designed to show the students that there are relatively great distances in our Solar System.
