Reflection: Shared Expectations Digestive System - The Role of Enzymes - Section 4: Elaborate

As a 7th grade teacher I'm fully aware that anytime you're talking about the human body, 7ht grades will become curious and energetic to put it nicely.  It's important that you explain to students that our bodies are marvelous beautifully designed machines that must be respected since we over our lives to them.  In this particular demonstration, the food is digested completely and the solid waste is excreted at the end.  In my class I'm aware of the developmental stages of my students, since they are not all the same, and allow students to giggle and have fun as long as learning is take place.  It is imperative that you find a balance between high and real expectations of your students and that they are clearly communicated to students.
