Reflection: Checks for Understanding During Reading Strategy/ Note Bookmark - Section 3: Closure


The closing of this lesson was fun for my students. They really enjoyed sharing their thoughts on what they thought of as I read to them. I realized quickly that students could accurately give a description for the section I asked about, but when asked how did they come up with that, it was much harder for them to answer.

By doing this brief closing activity, I now know how I can help them become better when I teach them to visualize. The lesson will need to have a support your answer piece.

Big Idea: To make note taking fun by creating a reference paper that they can use as a bookmark for reading a non-fiction book.
