## Reflection: Parent Communication Unit Rate Problems (Part 1 of 3) - Section 1: Think About It

At the start of each unit, I send home an overview document for parents.  I remind them of any important dates on the horizon and I let them know what we'll be working on in the new unit.  I ask the students to have parents sign off on the homework planner with something related to the unit, so that I know they've seen the overview.  Kids love doing this, and it generates excitement for what we're going to be learning.

Here's the unit overview for this Unit Rates and Applications unit (Unit 5 Overview)  I taught my units in a slightly different order in the 2014-15 school year, which is why the document is called Unit 5.
