## Reflection: Real World Applications Building Cat Furniture: An Introduction to Linear Programming - Section 1: Launch and Explore

While students were building their cat furniture, a common question was whether or not they should consider possibilities where they did not use all of the Legos. Intuitively, students thought that if we want to maximize revenue, then we need to use every last block.

I told them to consider all combinations, but I do not think they were convinced that a maximum revenue could have leftover blocks. In hindsight I wish I would have revisited this at the end of the lesson. For question #3, on the task worksheet, the maximum revenue is produced when there are four extra yellow blocks. This is somewhat counter-intuitive and would have been a nice conversation to have.
