Reflection: Table of Contents, Glossaries, and Indexes - Section 2: Practice Makes Perfect


    As students begin the hunt for specific text features, I notice they were activating prior knowledge by remembering their experiences with newspapers, as evident by one student saying she gets her news paper from her grandmother.  Afterwards, students were giving purpose for each type of text feature named.  They communicated not only the application of this activity, but also the  reasoning behind the action (see resource).
