Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge We Can Create From Tiny Pieces, Too! - Section 3: Elaborate


The comment that the girl had about creating with Legos, disassembling it and then recreating something from those very same pieces to make something new, hit home with most of the students.  Because of her thoughts others were able to connect what we have been learning to a common experience that almost all of them have had.  Making connections like this helps the students learn and remember the main concepts.

Objective: SWBAT build a tower from smaller pieces.

Big Idea: The students will have a blast making their own Watts Tower from tiny pieces of "junk" to explore the idea of a great variety of things can be made from a set of small pieces.
