Reflection: Adjustments to Practice We Can Create From Tiny Pieces, Too! - Section 1: Teacher Notes


I ran out of time the day I did this activity since we had a short science period.  To make your towers look even more like the Watts Towers, I would make sure to add more "junk" when the children have completed their main structure.  Adding little pieces like foam bits, sequins and other stuff will make your towers look even better.  Take a look at the material list under the optional supplies.

Objective: SWBAT build a tower from smaller pieces.

Big Idea: The students will have a blast making their own Watts Tower from tiny pieces of "junk" to explore the idea of a great variety of things can be made from a set of small pieces.
