Reflection: Joy Sound Waves - Part 1 Density - Section 1: Engage

In my elementary classroom, technology is extremely important. I often rely on the use of video to begin a lesson or engage students in science content.  I have found that videos, especially what can be found on the internet within minutes, proves to not only bring the "real world" into my classroom, but also serves an an excellent springboard in teaching students about reliable internet sources.

In this lesson, students found the video engaging.  Some students wanted to keep watching it after I stopped it.  My students have discovered that many of my videos can be found on youtube or open sources and then go home and continue watching the video at home with family members.  This is truly an advantage I have with my students and using open source videos.  I know that learning doesn't stop when they leave the classroom.  Not only do my students learn science content, the videos are truly a bridge between home and school.
