Reflection: Intervention and Extension Solving Systems of Equations - Section 3: How systems are used in Calculus


When I discussed the interval for the area between the curves, I realized the students did not understand when wrote the interval down. The students knew the area was between the 2 points of intersection but they did not understand that we write the interval as the x-coordinates. The students also struggled with understanding the the y or f(x) is the value of the function at a given x coordinate.

To help students I went back to the graph I used to discuss area between curves. I identified the interval on the graph. I also asked the students to tell me the y-value of each function at different x-values in the interval. This visual helped with students understanding the topics on the worksheet.
