Reflection: Visualizing The Pinch Bug and His Prey: Chapter 5 - Section 2: Getting Down to Business


I have done this lesson for the past three years; however, this year I had the opportunity to rethink it through the lens of the Common Core.  I realized that I didn't have to take the art time away from my students; I simply had to enhance the visualization piece with textual citations.

I think this is something we all have to keep in mind as we work so hard to align our teaching to the Common Core.  So much of what we do is almost there, and - instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater - we need to look at our oldies but goodies in a new way.  The good stuff is there and can be made to be more Common Core-y with just a few adjustments!
