Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Starting a Mind Map of Fossils - Section 1: Vocabulary Warm Up

In order to really reinforce vocabulary ( this came up as a weakness on MAP testing recently) I decided to design a version of a Frayer Model that personlizes the experience even more. I did not include the "what it's not" part that the Frayer Model includes, but, I wanted to focus on paraphrasing the dictionary and focusing on parts of speech instead. One student finished her card and showed off her picture to me of the word "prehistoric". This is great fun! I am certain they will retain understanding of these words because of this creative strategy!
