Reflection: Adjustments to Practice Mystery Powders Day 1 - Section 2: Guiding Them Along


This lab was chosen because it was interestingly entertaining while it established students feeling for the lab and for teamwork. I got surprised. I thought it would be easy for students to fill baby food jars, label them and then bring them back to their station and get going with their samples. I have one bit of advice; label those jars ahead of time!

Objective: SWBAT learn to use clear and concise language while observing and recording evidence.

Big Idea: Using common white powders, observation, recording and deduction skills are practiced in this entry level experiment. Students practice teamwork skills and develop lab rapport.
