Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Understanding Shakespearean Language through Prior Knowledge and Context Clues - Section 4: Independent Practice: Using Context Clues to Define Vocabulary in Acts

This is the first "exposed" lesson about Shakespeare's writing with my students and I can honestly say that they enjoyed inferring the meanings of his language. Each activity moves students through comprehending how our language is different from Shakespeare by. Check out my Shakespeare Language wrap-up video on how students responded to the different activities in this lesson. While this is the first time doing this lesson with 8th graders, I will definitely do it again when reading a text that's complex in its word choice.
