Reflection: Joy Drill 5: Together is Better! - Section 3: Group Challenge

The kids had a blast and most groups totally GOT this! The only stumbling block was kids taking over and trying to so the tasks alone. I had to redirect and ask how one person was completing a team task. The conversations at the end were great, too. The kids in the groups that had someone take over said they felt like they weren't good enough and it made them sad. We really listened to one another and it made such an impact! No one was too whiny either, which is always a good thing. They were so eager to tackle this problem and that just made my heart soar. Sometimes I think that's half the battle; getting them pumped to solve problems. Now I just hope they can transfer this idea over to really working with each other when times get tough and being gentle with one another when material isn't as easy to understand.
