Reflection: Checks for Understanding Zooming in on the Facts! - Section 3: Using the Facts


During the lesson some students did not understand the problem written in number sentence form. I had to explain that the equal sign meant they actually had to add or subtract to get the answer. I work several examples of number sentences with an operation to the right of the equal sign and the answer on the left, so they do not over think what they need to do.
