Reflection: Student Led Inquiry Design Your Own Experiment (Day 1) - Section 3: Constructive Feedback

Time is of the essence to educators. I am as guilty as anyone of rushing through some lessons in order to get as much into a lesson as humanly possible. However, the critical friends protocol presented in this lesson should not be rushed. In order for students to adequately discuss what they are seeing and then be able to write down their ideas coherently is a thinking exercise that requires time.

In the discussions you hear several ideas that you cannot see on the papers the students ultimately submit as feedback at the end of the lesson. The students will beg to start "experimenting", but stressing the importance of adequate preparation will reap rewards, not only for this experience but for the projects and activities to come.
