Reflection: Trust and Respect Fish Cheeks - Close Reading - Section 1: Prompt


I asked students to reflect on the details of their own celebrations so that as we shared in class they would realize that families find a variety of ways to celebrate the same holidays.  Each family creates their own traditions.  In this way, students realized how celebrations vary and might not be surprised by the details in “Fish Cheeks” that we were about to read.
