Reflection: Checks for Understanding Take Apart 3D Shapes - Section 4: Closing/Summarizing


In this lesson, the close out proved to be very successful.  By allowing the students to share their drawing, they were able to see how another student visualized their work and recreated it.  There were a few instances where a student incorrectly created the new shape, and it required the students to discuss the drawing and compare it to the actual shape.

Take Apart 3D Shapes

Unit 5: Geometry
Lesson 4 of 18

Objective: SWBAT identify three-dimensional shapes used to build a composite shape using the strategy act it out.

Big Idea: If you build it, they will come ... What could be more fun than building bridges and castles in math class? In this lesson students analyze a composite shape to determine the individual 3D shapes that were used to make the composite shape.
