## Reflection: Student Ownership Prep for CCSS Assessments: Explaining Estimation in Writing Part 2 - Section 4: Conferencing

I saw great improvements in their conscientiousness about spelling, punctuation and sentence structure because they had a visual guide and a goal to use in the process. This rubric supports the standards about rounding and fluency because of the demands that it makes of the student to do that well and fluently. The accountability and ownership transfers into all writing assignments. I would not ever teach a math writing piece without a rubric. I am hoping it helps develop habits that also transfer into test taking.
