Reflection: Checks for Understanding Some Rhetorical Strategies MLK Uses - Section 4: Application


Students are doing a good job of selecting powerful examples, like I explain in this video. I am hoping that the time spent on this assignment is giving students the opportunity to focus on how a master used these devices as well as to better understand them. Later, when they begin to write their speech, I hope that having these definitions and examples accessible will make it easier for them to use these devices.

Big Idea: In looking for examples of specific rhetorical devices in a text, students are essentially looking for the structural elements that hold up a powerful argument.
