Reflection: Perseverance Purposeful Reading-Setting a Purpose to Read - Section 1: Overview

Although it is extremely important to teach students the Common Core standards, I think it is equally important to teach them strategies so they are able to apply the standards. To begin the school year, I begin with teaching students how to read purposefully. It is important that students are responsible for what they learn from their reading as well as working at becoming better readers. Teaching students early on to read with a purpose will help them with this which in turn will help the comprehend on a deeper level and become better readers.
