Reflection: Unit Planning Revising Our Argument for Presentation Part 1 - Section 1: Warm Up

I have used this piece and this video many times in the past and find that it is so powerful.  The fact that it is based on a real event always impresses my students, but the dramatic performance of the speech it what moves them.

It is such a good example of the power of performance.

This doesn't mean there are not others.  There are several other versions of this speech as well as other speeches with dramatic performances you might choose.

The key is the dramatics of the performance.  Students have to learn that they aren't just "reading" a speech.  It's a show to capture your audience.
