Reflection: Routines and Procedures Prewriting Argument Conferences Part 2 - Section 1: Warm Up

I often hear teachers talk about the "noise level" in their room on conferencing days.  Many hate these days because they feel out of control.

The thing is - we do not have to control every minute and if you set up clear routine and rituals early in the year (practicing them daily) students will be able to take ownership with out the classroom falling apart.

I reflect and work on this daily because I on of my goals is that my students can get along without me.  I try to set clear expectations and realistic goals that my students can value and want with me.

The biggie here is that our students have to have boundaries and ownership of their learning, and it is our job to set those things up early so they are second nature - not just on conferencing days.
