Reflection: Routines and Procedures Going With the Flow (map) - Section 2: Interact with text/concept


I model how to cut out the sequence cards before we actually sequence.  At this point in the year, students are still struggling with organizational skills and the logistics of task management.  I literally cut every single picture out and show the whole group how to put them in one pile on their desk so they don't lose any.

It is not uncommon for picture cards to end up on the floor, in the trash, half way cut, not cut out at all, in their desk, etc...  The list is endless of where the picture cards end up if I don't model explicitly!

Objective: SWBAT sequence events from the story with teacher guidance on their own flow maps. Students will practice retelling the story using the flow map.
