Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge Angle and line art - Section 1: Application

This was a great way to review important geometry words and concepts.  By incorporating art with geometry concepts, not only did the conversation have relevance, it was very focused. When I reviewed the terms with students as I went step by step through the directions and project, I was able to quickly assess what knowledge my students had about various objects and figures. I was able to tell that many of my students had a lot of prior knowledge and remembered a lot from third grade.  Some of my students needed guidance with using correct vocabulary. For example some students are more vague when describing lines that intersect and use terms like "they cross each other."  This lesson was an excellent way to stress correct vocabulary while keeping my students highly engaged.  I much prefer this lesson to discuss vocabulary then a half hour of note taking.  While both important, art and math proved to be a highly engaging and fun way to incorporate vocabulary today.
