Reflection: Diverse Entry Points Quadrilateral Investigations using Geometer's Sketchpad - Section 3: Activity


I find that the use of dynamic geometry software allows my students to take risks and work at their own pace. There isn't only one place for the students to start the investigation. They decide what to do and figure out how to do it. The diverse entry points are demonstrated in the Student Work

For example, the student work on Page 1 shows how the students used slope to show that opposite sides of the quadrilateral are parallel. The students whose work is shown on Page 2 explain that opposite sides of the quadrilateral are parallel because they used the "construct parallel lines" tool. Page 5 shows the work of students who used the measurement of angles to prove the quadrilateral is a parallelogram.
