Reflection: Real World Applications Crossing Guard - Section 1: Warm Up

In order for my students to write an informative paper, they need to learn some information about today's subject, the crossing guard.  Reading the story was great and informative.  The real teaching moments came when we went outside and met with a crossing guard.  We learned the importance of their job and the safety rules for crossing the street.  With many of my students being bus riders, they have never had the opportunity to walk across the street with the aid of the Crossing Guard.  This real life experience gave them the knowledge to write their informative sentence.  What better way to learn than to DO!
