Reflection: Checks for Understanding Analyzing the Changing Role of Fire in Fahrenheit 451 - Section 2: Read: Everything burns


I changed plans slightly during class today. I felt like we needed to think a bit more about Montag's realization about burning, so I spent more time on this quote by asking students to write about it. Here are three samples of their work: Example 1, Example 2, and Example 3.


I think that this time will help us in the long run, especially when we read the last ten pages of the novel. But it did mean that we had less time to spend on the planned journal time, which is why those responses are so short.
