Reflection: Poetry: Writing Cinquains - Section 2: Mini-Lesson


Students struggle a bit with Cinquain poems because they may not fully understand the concept of syllables. I practice with them by saying each syllable slowly and counting on my fingers. This will take a lot of scaffolding for many students, so I try to meet with every group for a reasonable amount of time during the independent practice portion of the day’s lesson.
